McDonald’s 15th Annual College Fair

With the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world was encouraged to stay at home.
However, we wanted to keep our Korean & Korean-American parents and students well-informed of the changing scope of college applications,
by providing them guidance for admissions while also allowing them to engage with the advisors by creating a Virtual College Fair, filled with surprises.

McDondald’s Virtual College Fair, 2020. YouTube Live.

Background & Challenge

The annual college fair with McDonald’s was facing a challenge with hosting an in-person event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, college applications and seniors were still to graduate, which meant students and parents still would need guidance through the process.
McDonald’s has always been supportive of education for the younger generation.

Solution

We turned this event into a live YouTube event, in which students could listen to the college admission counselors, ask question through the live chat & also have opportunities to win prizes, such as AirPods, MacBook, & AirPads. This kept students engaged & excited at home, while also giving them the great opportunity to find tools to help their college application processes.

Results

We had around 1,000 viewers throughout the entire duration of the Live YouTube College Fair, with lively discussion and questions that came from the students.

From the feedback of the viewers, students expressed that they felt that all of the engagement aspects, they were thankful that there was an entertaining aspect to learning and navigating through the stressful process, raising McDonald’s brand awareness towards education.
